Launch of ‘Greener Young Lives’ Appeal.
Matthew Hancock MP, visited the Trust’s headquarters on Friday 12th November to meet representatives from WestSuffolkCollege’s Synergy Group – young people who have recently taken part in a training course combining life skills and conservation training. With current funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme, the Green Light Trust is actively engaged in working with young people in Suffolk, with tailored programmes aimed at preventing young people at risk of becoming a NEET statistic by engaging them in a learning programme that helps build their personal and social skills as well as learn some technical outdoor conservation skills.
Matthew Hancock MP also visited to launch the charity’s appeal to secure additional funding to work with up to 3,000 young people from Suffolk and neighbouring counties. The project appeal is called ‘Creating Greener Young Lives’. This is the charity’s major contribution to Suffolk’s Creating the Greenest County initiative over the next three years. Speaking about the day Matthew Hancock MP said, "Thank you for arranging such an interesting visit - I found it a valuable insight into how to involve young people in learning lifelong skills in conservation. Their enthusiasm for the programme was tangible".
We have just been awarded a grant from the CreatingGreenestCounty fund to further support the Greener Young Lives appeal.
