Linden Installation

Primary school children in South America have got their hands on computers for the very first time this summer, thanks to the generosity of several local organisations.

Here at CPW we coordinated efforts with Linden Education Link (UK) and sent a consignment of IT equipment to Guyana. The first batch, enough for three schools, was installed by the Linden Technical College

Derrick Thomas, the local representative of the Linden Education Link (UK), grew up in the Linden district of Guyana. He is one of a group of people, now based in England, who for the past 11 years have been sending a variety of educational equipment to theirformer home.

He said, “This consignment gives children the opportunity to broaden their horizons through education. It has all been generously donated by local businesses and schools, and they can be assured that it will make a huge difference.”

Christine said, “Apart from anything else, this is equipment that might otherwise have gone to landfill. We are keen that, wherever possible, IT equipment is given a second life. We’ve collected and ‘cleaned’ the equipment in our offices and made it ready for setting up and networking. In time we hope to equip a further seven schools.”

CPW Computing has adopted Linden Education as its overseas charity.
